Runic Divination
The Runic system is possibly one of the most historically interesting areas of
psychic divination. The modern runic set is formed of 25 runes and is exploited by
psychic mediums not merely for divinations but likewise for the foundation of psychic
charms.
The runic system itself is the bequest of the other Germanic writing system,
dating all the way backwards to around 150AD.
The runes in this writing system are
believed to be joined to the fable of the Norse God Odin and the heroic poem
Hvaml. The legend tells the story of Odin being hung from the world tree
Yggdrasil, with his own spear, in a forfeit to the gods. He hung there for a
period of 9 years and club nights, in place to read about the nine worlds
and to reach the wisdom needed to control them, and during this point he
was gifted the cognition of the sacred runes. This Germanic writing system
eventually faded out of use, replaced by the more modern Latin alphabet in
around 700AD.
The runes did however survive, with historical evidence showing them in
use by the Romans. They were initially being exploited for sorcerous purposes,
protective charms on rings and amulets and curses scrawled on walls, even
they word rune itself has mystical meaning, as it translates as something
hidden or secret. This use of runes as a magical focus continues to this day.
The new day runic system only really entered general use in the 1980s,
this rebirth was triggered by a list of cards, books and runic
sets being exploited for, and writing around the use of runes for divination as an
alternative to the classical Tarot reader. These rune sets were based on the
original 18 runes from the fable of Odin area a democratic option for those just
starting to get their divinatory powers, as they are one of those things
in life thats comfortable to take but difficult to master. The actually divination process
involves the runes being mixed up in a bag and either drawn out one at a time
or project as a grouping on a level surface so that a reading can be taken.
As with most divination methods though the science is in the interpretation which
can bring days to master fully, everything from the preference of the runes to
the groupings and orders can force the event and for an accurate reading
its worth going to a practiced psychic.
